In order to stay at a Youth Hostel, you must be a member of your national Youth Hostel Association, in this case is Malaysian Youth Hostels Association (MYHA). If there is no national YHA in your country, you can purchase a Hostelling International Card or a Welcome Stamp. Membership is open to people all ages and offers: - 4,000 accomodation centres in almost 80 countries.

In remembrance of Dato Dr Ikmal Hisham Albakri |

It is with deepest sadness to inform the passing of our long serving President, Dato Dr Ikmal Hisham Albakri on Saturday, 14 Jan 2006 due to heart attack. He was buried at the Ampang Muslim cemetery the next day. Among the dignitories, HRH the Sultan of Perak was present on Sunday to pay his last respect. The late Dato was President since 1988 and prior to that was the Vice President and Chairman of the Executive Committee since appointed to the post on 01 May 1966. He has attended many International Youth Hostel Conferences and was a member of the Asia Review Committee. The IYHF President, Dr Harish Saxena came all the way from India on 10 to 12 March 2006 to pay his respect and offer condolences to the family of the late Dato. May his soul rest in peace. Alfatihah. The Malaysian Youth Hostels Association (MYHA) was founded in 1955 and registered on 15 March 1957 under the Societies Act. The founding chairman was a young doctor by the name of Dr. J.H. Newton. MYHA is a voluntary non profit youth organization and affiliated with the Malaysian Youth Council ( Majlis Belia Malaysia) and is a full member of the International Youth Hostel Federation based in England, United Kingdom. The Association receive an administration grant from the Ministry of Youth and Sports Malaysia and a donation tax exempt status under the Income Tax Act.
