Snakes versus Snakes Exhibition
Sep 4 - 31 2010 - Meet up-close 100 venomous and non-venomous snakes such as the Banded Sea Snake from Bangladesh, Thailand and Malaysia at the National Museum. Visitors will also get a chance see live snakes or their preserved remains in an exhibition by Universiti Sains Malaysia?s Poisons Centre, Institute of Medical Research Malaysia and the National Museum.

Today is a historic day. This day, 100 years ago, the hostel movement was founded by Richard Schirrmann. The anniversary is being celebrated by HI member associations all over the world. A lot of activities have already happened, a lot of activities are happening today and many are still to come.
To highlight the importance of the 26 August, Hostelling International has today announced the winner of the HI Anniversary Competition on hihostels.com. Out of nearly 1,100 entries, a photo by Christian Torrico from Argentina was chosen for best describing “My Best Hostel Experience”.
On hiway you will find out all about the anniversary competition, including a link to the 100 best competition entries.
Other recently published news stories related to the 100th anniversary include: - Australia unearths 42 year old time capsule and buries a new one at the site of the new Sydney Harbour Hostel.

Amendments were made to the Constitution at the 37th AGM held on 21st June 2008 which amongst others included the new proposed membership fees and subsequently approved by the Registrar of Societies dated 6 July 2009. Amendment to the Constitution made at the last AGM in June 2008 was finally approved by the Registrar of Societies dated 6 July 2009. The Association is now known as Pertubuhan Asrama Antarabangsa Malaysia(Hostelling International-Malaysia) or HI- Malaysia. Please be informed that MYHA is keen to develop the Port Dickson Hostel to upgrade the hostel facilities which will then include swimming pool and seminar hall. The total cost is expected to be about RM 300,000 and MYHA will come up with 30% of the cost. The balance of 70% which is equivalent to RM 210,000 is to be offered to members and interested parties. One percent is RM 3,000 and YHA members can take up the offer which is valid for 5 years. In return, MYHA will pay members and interested parties the profit returns once the PD hostel is operational. We at MYHA believe that the Hostel would be able to generate income once it is able to conduct and run programs and activities. For further information kindly contact Hamirudin at 013 3696318.
